What are PSU Examinations?
PSU Examinations or the Public Sector Undertaking Examinations are held for government owned corporations such as the BSNL, MTNL, ONGC, SAIL, GAIL, ISRO, BHEL, BEML and other such organizations. The PSU examinations provide a platform to the aspirants to gain employment in government organizations after a clearing a certain cut-off set by the government.
What are PSU Organizations?
Public Sector Undertaking or the PSU organizations are enterprises that are owned by the government. These enterprises are a part of the state or central government or both. The stocks of these enterprises are majorly owned by the government. The PSU organizations are classified as Maharatna and Navratna PSU organizations.
Maharatna Organizations involves enterprises that have an investment of Rs. 1000 crore to Rs.5000 crore. Maharatna Organizations. These investments are majorly foreign investments. The eligibility for an organization to be titled as Maharatna is at least 3 years of an annual turnover of Rs.2500 crores or more. SAIL, ONGC, NTPC, CIL, IOCL, BHEL, GAIL and BPCL are the PSU organizations with the Maharatna status.
The Navratna Organizations have investments of Rs. 1000 crores and less. These organizations run without explicit approval from the government. The Navratna Organizations need to score a 60 out of 100 based on parameters such as net profit, net worth, total manpower worth, the overall cost of production, worth of services provided and profit-based depreciation, interest and taxes or the PBDIT. A Navratna Organization must achieve a status of Miniratna with an annual net turnover of Rs. 30 crores for 3 years or more.
