What is new in JAM 2025?
- A New paper called Economics (EN) has been added in IIT-JAM 2021 exam.
- Banks do not sell application forms.
- Online based examination.
- Duration of exam will be for 3 hours.
- Medium of paper will be English only.
- Application forms applied through online will only be accepted.
- The test papers for CA and GP are discontinued.
- From the year 2018-2019, the subjects like MCA, M.Tech, in Geological Technology and M.Tech in Geophysical Technology will not be offered.
- The Test Papers BT, CY, EN, GG, MA, MS and PH contains three sections A,B,C,all are compulsory. Section A contains 30 MCQ (10 questions of one mark each and 20 questions of two marks).Section B contains 10 MSQ carrying two marks each. Section C contains 20 Numerical Answer Type involving 10 question of one mark and 10 question of two mark.
STRUCTURE OF JAM 2025
JAM 2025 will have six Test Papers. A candidate can appear in either one or two Test Paper(s), subject to the restrictions imposed by the Test Schedule and on payment of requisite additional fee for the Second Test Paper as applicable. Candidates desiring to appear in two Test Papers must ensure, from the Test Schedule, that these Test Papers are not scheduled in the same session.

Applicants seeking admission for a Ph.D / Integrated Ph.D Programme in Physics or Theoretical Computer Science or Neuroscience or Computational Biology in one of the Participating Institutes may appear for the Joint Entrance Screening Test.
The Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB) (statutory body established through an Act of Parliament) recognizes JEST as a National Eligibility Test (NET). Fellows working in SERB programmes and qualified in NET are eligible to get an enhanced fellowship.
Participating Institutes have their own eligibility criteria. Applicants who are expected to complete their final examinations by August of each year are also eligible to appear for the JEST exam of that year.
JEST Schedule
JEST is conducted once in a year, i.e., in the months of February. The notifications announcing the JEST published in the months of October in the weekly journal of nation-wide circulation (Employment News).
