The institute strives for maintaining and upgrading quality and relevance of higher agricultural education through NET & ARS coaching and skill training by an expert Agriculture Faculties. NET is a qualifying exam for determining eligibility for the position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the State Agricultural Universities (SAU) & All other UGC Authorized Agricultural Universities (AU). Candidates qualifying the National Eligibility Test will be eligible to apply for the post of Lecturers or Assistant Professors in the SAUs/AUs. NET certificates will be issued by the ASRB to the qualified candidates to allow them to apply against vacancies to be notified or advertised by the State level all Agricultural Universities/ all other Agricultural Universities. SAUs/AUs will adequate themselves with regard to fulfilment of specified eligibility criterion for requisite posts of Lecturers/Assistant Professors including quality of the NET Certificate in the possession of the candidates.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
A candidate must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in the required Discipline and specialization completed on or before 21.02.2018 from any Indian University incorporated by an Act of Central or State Legislature in India or other academic institution established by an Act of Parliament or mentioned to be deemed University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or he/she must have qualification from a foreign University recognized as equivalent by the Government of India (GoI).
AGE LIMIT:
A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years as on 01.08.2017. There is no upper age limit for the National Eligibility Test.
NO. OF ICAR NET ATTEMPT:
The number of attempts for appearing in the National Eligibility Test examination will be limited to five times only for all candidates (whether M.Sc. /Ph.D.) including the in-service candidates of ICAR. However, this restriction will not apply to SC and ST candidates, who are otherwise eligible. An attempt will be one when the candidate actually appearing at the Exam. Mere register for and not appearing for the Exam will not amount to an Attempt.
Note:- The number of attempts made by the candidates prior to National Eligibility Test Examination –2012 will not be taken into account for counting the number of attempts made.

Agricultural Research Service (ARS) (Preliminary) and NET Examination
GATEIIT also provide Coaching classes for ARS. The Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) will hold a combined ARS (Preliminary) and NET (I)- Examination in Online mode at 23 Centres across India in a staggered slot-wise exam format as per the Rules and Scheme of Exam
The ARS (Prelim) Examination is a qualifying exam and its marks will not be carried forward for determining final merit of the candidates. All those candidates desirous of appearing for ARS Exam are required to take both the Prelim and Mains Examination and viva-voce. Since a pass in the Preliminary Examination is compulsory for all candidates, only those candidates who qualify the ARS- (Preliminary). Candidates declared successful in ARS- (Mains) Exam and viva-voce will be recommended for appointment as Scientists in Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
