The CSIR conducts UGC-CSIR NET, collaborating with UGC, for the five science subjects for both LS and JRF.
The details of the exams
CSIR, New Delhi, conducts the exams. The joint UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF exams for all five science subjects are of single paper and MCQ formats divided into parts A, B and C.
All of them are 200 marks exams for which the students get 3 hours.
The Computer Science and Applications test consists of three papers with objective-type questions. A test of 100 marks is taken with fifty questions, all of which are compulsory to answer within one hour, and another test of the same marks is taken with hundred questions, all of which are to be answered within two hours.
A student is generally eligible to appear for the CSIR NET JRF exam up to 28. If he belongs to OBC, he can appear for the test up to 31 years, and if the candidate is an SC/ST/PwD, a woman or a transgender person, they can appear for the exam up to 33 years of age.
