About Joint UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF:
Along with UGC the CISR (The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) conducts UGC-CSIR NET for all 5 science subjects such as CSIR NET LS/JRF Physical Sciences, CSIR NET LS/JRF Chemical Sciences, UGC-CSIR-NET LS/JRF Life Sciences, UGC-CSIR-NET LS/JRF Mathematical Sciences, UGC-CSIR-NET LS/JRF Earth Sciences, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences Coaching in Bangalore. Examination Scheme for Joint UGC-CSIR-NET/JRF:
All the papers that are in the test of the single subjects have Multiple Choice Questions which is divided into three parts A, B, C. The test will consist of three papers. All the three papers will consist of only objective type questions and the test is going to be held in two different sessions.
Age Limit & Relaxation:
The Age limit for JRF is not more than 28 years. But a relaxation up to 3 years is given to the candidates belonging to OBC category (non-creamy layer). Relaxation up to 5 years for SC/ ST/Pwd/Transgender categories and to women applicants. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates having research experience. There is no upper age limit for applying for the post of Assistant Professor.
Minimum Educational Qualification for NET/JRF:
The minimum educational qualification that is required for NET/JRF is that the candidate must score minimum 55% marks in M.Sc., M.Tech., MCA, or equivalent Degree. The OBC, SC, ST candidates, Physically & Visually handicapped candidates need to score 50% marks in their master’s degree course. Candidates who have already appeared for their Master’s degree final examination can also apply for this test.
NET/ JRF Exam Schedule:
The NTA-UGC and CSIR-UGC conducts NET twice a year, i.e., in the months of June and December. The notifications announcing the June examinations are published in February/March and the notifications of the December examinations is announced in August/ September in the weekly journal of nation-wide circulation, viz, Employment News.
Scholarship:
Currently the scholarship amount of the JRF(NET) fellowship, at present is Rs.25,000/- per month plus HRA. The fellowship will be governed by terms and conditions of CSIR, UGC, or Research Scheme, as applicable. The number of fellowships for each subject is limited. The total duration of the fellowship is 5 years. The first 2 years the candidate gets a stipend of Rs.25,000/- per month and from 3rd year the stipend is Rs. 28,000/-per month.
