What is UGC NET?

It is an all-India level entrance exam that is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on the behalf of the UGC, which is the body that supervises the universities and colleges of India. There are 82 different subjects available in this exam, you can give its exam on the basis of any one particular subject. This exam is conducted twice a year, first in June and second in December.

What is the qualification required for UGC NET?

But for the candidates who come in the OBC, SC / ST, and PWD categories, their minimum marks should be 50%.

Before telling you about its age limit, I would like to tell you that when you fill out the UGC NET form, you can fill out two forms simultaneously. The first is JRF i.e., Junior Research Fellowship and the second is for Assistant Professor.

The age limit set for JRF is 31 years. In this, reserved category candidates get a relaxation of 5 years while there is no age limit for Assistant Professor. That is, no matter what your age is, you can fill out the UGC NET form for Assistant Professor.

When is the UGC NET exam?

If we talk about the form of UGC NET, then it comes twice a year and if we talk about the exam, then one is in the month of June and the other is in the month of December. So, if you want to fill out the form, then you can give the exam both time by filling out the form for in coming year.

What is the fee for the UGC NET form?

The fee for this form is Rs 1100 for general category candidates and Rs 550 for EWS/OBC candidates while it is Rs 275 for SC/ST/PWD students.

What is the exam pattern of UGC NET?

Talking about the exam pattern of UGC NET is completed in two papers. The first paper starts at 9:00 am and ends at 12:00 pm. While the second paper starts at 3:00 pm on the same day and ends at 6:00 pm. This exam is taken in computer-based mode. There is no negative marking in this exam i.e., no marks will be deducted if your answer is wrong.

You can give the first paper in any language. In this, 50 questions are asked which is 100 marks. On the other hand, you can give the second paper only on the particular subject you have chosen.

For example, if you have chosen the History subject while filling out the form, then you will have to appear for the History exam. There are 100 questions in this paper which are 200 marks. Both the papers have MCQ i.e., Multiple Choice questions.

What is the syllabus of UGC NET?

As I said above UGC NET has two papers. In the first paper, questions are asked on 10 topics in which Teaching aptitude, Research aptitude, Comprehension, Communication, Mathematical Reasoning and Aptitude, Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information, and Communication Technology (ICT), People, Development, and Environment, and Higher Education System happens. And in the second paper, only questions related to the subject you have chosen are asked.
